The former Florio plant, on the island of Favignana, was converted in 2010 into an area of 32 thousand square meters dedicated to art and now houses the Museo della Mattanza.
Next June, Vittorio Sgarbi will inaugurate an important exhibition entitled "Artists of Sicily, from Pirandello to Iudice", promoted by the Regional Tourism Councilor and sponsored by the Municipality.
The event is impressive, with over sixty artists and about one hundred works to admire. Among the painters, sculptors, photographers and documentary filmmakers who left their mark between the 1930s and the present day are names such as Fausto Pirandello, son of the famous writer, Renato Guttuso, Salvatore Fiume and Giovanni Iudice.
Among the numerous in-depth topics, above all the relationship with the Mediterranean emerges, with its beaches, its colors, its small ports and the open and metaphysical seas.
"The refined anthology of great Sicilian artists dedicated to the theme of the sea, is not only a further opportunity to catalyze the tourism promotion in Sicily around the specific cultural of the island, but also an extra step to highlight the potential of Tonnara Favignana, whose important restoration must increasingly be enhanced with a strategic vision and perspective, "says Regional Councilor for Tourism Michela Stancheris.
