Rio Mare and AMP Egadi Three-year project

Was presented today the innovative project implemented at the AMP Egadi aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and promote sustainable management of natural resources of the territory.
The initiative provides funding for three projects:
- The protection of Posidonia Oceanica, the "green lung" of the Mediterranean, thanks to the placement of 72 bollards designed to inhibit trawling the coast and increase the fish fauna. The 72 bollards are added to the 72 already installed in 2013 with funds from the Ministry of Environment and have already demonstrated their effectiveness, as confirmed by the monitoring carried out by the Marine Protected Area, by the Port and ENEA - Agency national Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development.
- The management of the Observatory Monk Seal in Punta Troia Castle Marettimo to monitor the presence of this species, the most vulnerable of the Mediterranean, in the archipelago. The initiative is developed alongside the studies carried out by researchers from the Institute for the Protection and Environmental Research (ISPRA).
- The management of the first Center for Recovery of Marine Turtles in Favignana to rescue and hospitalize injured specimens or difficulties that will be housed in special tanks before being treated and returned to freedom at the end of convalescence. The center also will also play the role of the visitor center and teaching laboratory CEA (Center for Environmental Education.
The initiative was strongly supported by the Company and realized a tangible commitment of Rio Mare for environmental protection and enhancement of the Italian territory that represents the project Quality Manager. In fact, this initiative aims to preserve the Posidonia Oceanica wider Mediterranean and enhance one of the most beautiful natural resources of our country, creating shared value for the communities of these territories and for Italy.
